Guy Pearce and Andy Serkis star in the spooky first trailer for BBC's new take on A Christmas Carol

A first trailer for the BBC's new take on A Christmas Carol has debuted. Click below to watch it:

The drama will run across three parts, with Guy Pearce, Andy Serkis, Stephen Graham, Charlotte Riley, Joe Alwyn, Vinette Robinson and Jason Flemyng all starring.

Pearce plays Ebenezer Scrooge, a bitter old man who despises the Christmas holiday and treats the employees at his money-lending business terribly, allowing them to barely see their families over the festive period.

Over the course of Christmas Eve night, he is visited by three ghosts to show him his past, present and future, with life-changing consequences.

The adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel has been done by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, actor Tom Hardy and Ridley Scott among the executive producers.

It will be broadcast on BBC One in December.
