Harrison Ford confirmed for Blade Runner sequel
Prisoners helmer Denis Villenenuve will direct the follow-up to the much loved sci-fi classic
The much-touted Blade Runner sequel finally has some substance after it was confirmed that Harrison Ford will return as Rick Deckard for a sequel more than thirty years after the first movie.
Ridley Scott, the original film’s director, will also return in a production capacity alongside Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.
A joint statement released by the pair stated: “We are honoured that Harrison is joining us on our journey with Denis Villeneuve, who is a singular talent, as we experienced personally on Prisoners.
“Hampton Fancher and Michael Green (screenwriters), with Ridley Scott, have crafted a uniquely potent sequel to one of the most universally celebrated films of all time, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with this amazing, creative team.”
Details are scant as to the story at the moment but we do know that the sequel takes place several decades after the conclusion of the original and that Ford’s Deckard is to be a central character once again.
