Hellraiser set for reboot with Batman v Superman writer David S Goyer
Horror classic Hellraiser is set for a reboot.
According to The Wrap, David S. Goyer, writer on Batman Begins, Batman V Superman and the forthcoming Terminator: Dark Fate, is set to write and produce the new movie.
Speaking about the new reboot, Goyer said: "I’ve been a fan of Clive’s work since the original ‘Books of Blood’ paperbacks and The Hellbound Heart novella. Having the chance to reimagine Pinhead and the Cenobites for a new audience is a nightmare-come-true. Gary is a true fan as well and we’re committed to making something dark and visceral."
Hellraiser was created by Clive Barker in 1986 in his novella The Hellbound Heart and hit the big screen in 1987.
It told the story of Frank, a man who opens a door to another dimension and saw his body destroyed by the Cenobites, creatures from Hell that grant sadomasochistic pleasures to those who call upon them, led by a terrifying creation named Pinhead.
Years later, Frank’s brother Larry moves into their late mother’s abandoned house with new wife Julia. He has an accident, which triggers Frank’s resurrection, and soon enables the Cenobites to come forth again...
Hellraiser has since spawned a total of 10 films and a series of graphic novels in the years since its creation.
