Hugh Jackman set to star in Eddie The Eagle film
Hugh Jackman and Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton have reportedly signed up to star in a new film about beloved British ski jumper Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards.
According to The Wrap, The X-Men mainman is set to star as Chuck Berghorn, a ski expert who helped Edwards prepare for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary.
Edwards, who will be portrayed by Egerton, became the first athlete to repesent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping, but ended up coming last in both the 70m and 90m ski-jumping events.
The film will be directed by Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels star Dexter Fletcher, who most recently directed Sunshine On Leith, the musical featuring the hits of Scottish rockers The Proclaimers.
Jackman will next be seen on screen in Neil Blomkamp's new dystopian drama Chappie and family blockbuster Pan. He is about to begin filming his role as Wolverine in the hotly anticipated X-Men: Apocalypse.
