Idina Menzel confirms Frozen 2 is "in the works"
Idina Menzel has confirmed that a sequel to Frozen is "in the works".
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the actress said when asked what she could reveal about reported plans for a sequel to the film and a stage musical, she replied: "That they’re all in the works, ha ha!”
Then asked if she would be included in a sequel to the animated smash-hit and the forthcoming stage musical adaptation: "Yeah sure… Not the stage show – I don’t know what will happen with that – but the movie hopefully. We’ll see. I’m just going along for the ride."
Frozen was a box-office smash hit, raking in over $1.25 billion at the box office. It sold 3.2 million DVDs on its day of release earlier this year.
A new short film, titled Frozen Fever, will be released in the spring of next year.
Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee will direct the new short film, which will feature a new song from Oscar winners Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
According to the official announcement, the film centres about a birthday party, with the logline reading: "In Frozen Fever, it's Anna's birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa's icy powers may put more than just the party at risk."
A new sing-a-long version of Frozen has just been released on DVD.
