Idris Elba and Vanessa Kirby join cast for Fast and Furious spin-off
Idris Elba and Vanessa Kirby have signed up for key roles in the spin-off from Fast and Furious, which will star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Jason Statham.
The film, which follows Johnson's Luke Hobbs, the Diplomatic Security Service agent who has been a part of the franchise since 2011's Fast Five, and Statham's Deckard Shaw, the former villain who became a key part of the team in Fast 8, will hit cinemas in July 26th in 2019.
Elba has signed up to play the villain in the movie, while Kirby will play an MI-5 agent and Shaw’s sister.
Regular Fast and Furious scribe Chris Morgan has penned the script, with David Leitch, director of Atomic Blonde, booked in to direct.
There is no title for the spin-off as yet, but it is thought to send Hobbs and Shaw off on a new mission.
The next full Fast and Furious movie is now due to hit cinemas on April 10th in 2020, a delay of a year, to allow work on the spin-off.
