Jake Gyllenhaal, Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey on Marvel's shortlist to play Doctor Strange
Marvel's quest to find an actor to play Doctor Strange continues, with new reports suggesting that the studio now has a shortlist of six actors that they are considering.
According to Variety, on the list are Jake Gyllenhaal, Oscar Isaac, Ewan McGregor, Jared Leto, Ethan Hawke, and Matthew McConaughey.
Reports of this new shortlist come days after the studio ended negotiations with Joaquin Phoenix, who had been in talks to take the role for the forthcoming big-budget adaptation.
Scott Derrickson, best known for directing The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, Sinister and this year's Deliver Us From Evil, has signed up to direct the movie. Jon Spaihts is currently working on the script. The film is currently scheduled to be released in 2016.
