James Gunn set for $10 million pay-off from Disney after departing Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Gunn, who had directed both previous instalments of the hit Marvel adaptation, was removed from his role after offensive tweets were discovered from earlier in his career.

James Gunn could be set to receive a pay-off of up to $10 million after his departure from the third instalment of Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Gunn, who had directed both previous instalments of the hit Marvel adaptation, was removed from his role after offensive tweets were discovered from earlier in his career.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the director is still in negotiations with the studio over his exit, an exit made more complicated by the fact that Disney are still planning to use Gunn's script for the third movie.

According to industry experts, Gunn could receive a payout of $7 million to $10 million, if not potentially higher as he had not breached the terms of his contract as the offensive tweets were sent years before he first signed with Disney.

The report also states that Gunn has already received offers from several major studios, and, as soon as he reaches an exit agreement with Disney, he will be free to take another project.

Disney have yet to confirm a replacement for Gunn.
