Jamie Foxx signs up to play Little John in Robin Hood: Origins
Jamie Foxx has signed up to star in Lionsgate's new reboot of Robin Hood.
The movie, which is titled Robin Hood: Origins, will see Foxx play Little John to Taron Egerton's Robin Hood, with The Knick's Eve Hewson as Maid Marion.
According to the official announcement Foxx's Little John is a grizzled veteran who returns from the crusades after years of fighting against Robin's men and takes some winning over, but will eventually become the iconic sidekick we all know.
Robin Hood: Origins will be directed by Otto Bathurst, best known for his work directing Peaky Blinders and Black Mirror. It is set to take the character back to his roots and discover how he became the iconic outlaw. It will film this autumn and is due for release at the end of 2017.
Robin Hood was last on the big screen in 2010 with Russell Crowe starring as the titular hero in a movie directed by Ridley Scott. You can check that movie out here in our online store.
