Javier Bardem in talks to play villain in Pirates Of The Caribbean 5
Javier Bardem, best known for his Oscar winning role in No Country For Old Men and for portraying the dastardly Raoul Silva in Skyfall, is in talks to star as the villain in the fifth instalment of Pirates Of The Caribbean.
The Wrap reports that Bardem has been offered the chance to play Captain Brand, a ghost out for revenge against Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow, who he blames for his brother's murder. Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz has also been linked with the role, but Bardem is thought to be producer's first choice.
Production on the fifth film in the series, which is to be titled Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, is set to begin in February of next year.
The filming will take place in Queensland after producers Disney agreed a deal with the Australian government, who agreed to put just under $20 million towards the film.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is due to be released on July 7th, 2017.
