Jeff Bridges teases the return of 'The Dude' in new video clip
Screen legend Jeff Bridges has delivered plenty of iconic performances over the course of his long career, from TRON's cyber-hero Kevin Flynn to Iron Man's villainous antagonist Obadiah Stone, but one of his most beloved performances remains his appearance as The Dude in the Coen brothers' 1998 comedy The Big Lebowski. Well, now it seems that The Dude is making a return, although exactly what form that return will take is still a bit of a mystery.
Bridges posted a short teaser video yesterday featuring the veteran actor in full Dude guise, along with a cryptic message and a date of February 3rd:
Can’t be living in the past, man. Stay tuned. pic.twitter.com/zL2CLYhGAM— Jeff Bridges (@TheJeffBridges) 24 January 2019
The date corresponds to Super Bowl LIII, due to take place on the same day, suggesting that a trailer featuring the actor's Big Lebowski character will make an appearance at some stage, possibly during the halftime show.
While the prospect of a sequel to The Big Lebowski might seem like a mouthwatering one for fans of the Coen brothers' movie, it seems more likely that The Dude could make an appearance in John Turturro's upcoming spin-off Going Places, which revolves around his character Jesus. The movie was reported to have started filming as long as three years ago, but there hasn't been much in the way of news on the project of late.
There hasn't been a announcement on a release as yet, and while some cast members have been attached to the movie, including Bobby Cannavale, Susan Sarandon and Audrey Tatou, Jeff Bridges' involvement has yet to be confirmed.
No doubt we'll find out more on February 3rd.
