Jeremy Renner to appear as Hawkeye in Captain America: Civil War
Jeremy Renner, who stars as Hawkeye in both the forthcoming blockbuster Avengers: Age Of Ultron and the smash-hit Avengers Assemble, will play a role in Captain America: Civil War, according to reports overnight.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Renner will shoot the new blockbuster before he heads off to star alongside Amy Adams in The Story Of Your Life, a new sci-fi drama from Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve.
The cast for Captain America: Civil War is already quite extensive with Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Anthony Mackie returning as The Falcon, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, Chadwick Boseman making his Marvel debut as Black Panther, Rush star Daniel Bruhl playing Baron Zemo and The Purge: Anarchy's Frank Grillo as Crossbones all on board.
It is also strongly reported that the film will mark the first screen appearance for the new Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with that role yet to be cast.
It is thought that the film's plot will pit Robert Downey Jn's Tony Stark against Captain America’s alter-ego Steve Rogers, with both characters at war over the Superhero Registration Act. The act forces anyone with superhuman abilities to reveal their identities to the US government and agree to act as a police force for the authorities. Stark supports the act, whereas Rogers does not, leading to repeated clashes between the pair.
Captain America 3 is due for release in May 2016. It will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
