Jessica Jones director SJ Clarkson set to take charge of Star Trek 4, Chris Hemsworth returning to star
SJ Clarkson, best known for her work on Jessica Jones, is in talks to take charge of the fourth instalment of Star Trek.
There hadn't been much talk of a follow-up to 2016's Star Trek: Beyond, with the focus shifting to a Star Trek movie being developed by JJ Abrams and Quentin Tarantino.
However, at this week's CinemaCon, Paramount have revealed it is planning a fourth movie with Chris Hemsworth, who appeared as Chris Pine’s father in 2009’s Star Trek returning to star.
Variety reports that Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are set to return with the movie's plot involving Pine's James T. Kirk running into his father in a time travel narrative.
Clarkson, who has also directed episodes of Dexter, Bates Motel and Orange is the New Black, becomes the franchise's first female director. She will work from a script from J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay.
Tarantino's Star Trek movie remains on the card, but it is still being written, whereas this movie is ready to go.
