Jim Carrey to play Dr. Robotnik in new Sonic the Hedgehog movie
Fans of Sega's famous blue hedgehog may already be aware that Golan The Insatiable pair Josh Miller and Patrick Casey are busy working on a Sonic The Hedgehog movie set to arrive next year, but now it seems the film has found its villain.
Jeff Fowler is set to direct the new film, which is set to be a mixture of CGI and live action, and it had previously been confirmed that Westworld's James Marsden and Gossip Girl's Tika Sumpter are set for roles in Fowler's movie, but his weekend it was announced that none other than Jim Carrey will be tackling the role of Sonic's evil nemesis, Dr. Robotnik.
Better known is some parts of the world as Eggman, Dr. Robotnik is the evil genius that has featured in both the Sonic the Hedgehog games and the various TV series adapted from Sega's console classic, but as yet it isn't clear whether Carrey will be appearing in the flesh as a live action version of Robotnik or simply lending his voice to an animated incarnation of the character.
Carrey is only the third confirmed cast member and there will be plenty more additions to come, but more details are expected soon and the film is currently slated for release in the UK on November 28th 2019.
