Joe Manganiello, Joel Edgerton, Gary Sinise eyed for roles in DC's Suicide Squad
Exodus: Gods And Kings leading man Joel Edgerton and one-time star of The Walking Dead Jon Bernthal are both being tipped to take the role of Rick Flagg in DC's new big-budget adaptation of beloved DC comic Suicide Squad.
The role was due to be played by Tom Hardy, but he quit the project last week, producers then approached Jake Gyllenhaal, who also declined the role. According to Cinema Blend, producers are now looking at Bernthal and Edgerton.
The report also states that CSI star Gary Sinise has landed a role in the blockbuster and that True Blood's Joe Manganiello is the hot favourite to land the role of Deadshot.
The rest of the key cast of the blockbuster were confirmed at the end of 2014. Will Smith will lead the way as Deadshot, with Jared Leto playing The Joker and Delevingne as Enchantress. It also features The Wolf Of Wall Street's Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jai Courtney as Boomerang.
It was reported late last year that Jesse Eisenberg is set to transfer his Lex Luthor character from Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and into Suicide Squad, but Eisenberg has, so far, not been announced for the film.
Suicide Squad is to be directed by Fury's David Ayer and will go into production in April, with a release date of August 5th in 2016 already confirmed.
