John Cleese to play villain in Baywatch spin-off movie
John Cleese has signed up to play a nuclear-warhead toting villain in the new thriller The B-Team, the film, which is being unofficially named as a spin-off from hit 1990s TV show Baywatch.
Cleese, who is currently appearing in the Monty Python Live (mostly) at London’s O2 Arena, has, according to The Independent, agreed to take the role of the villain Victor Van Vaught in the film, a power-crazed Brit who lives on a yacht in the Mediterranean and discovers he can control an arsenal of nuclear weapons.
The film, has no official connection to the original Baywatch series, was originated by former Baywatch stars Alexandra Paul and Jaason Simmons, is being shot by British director Chris Cottam, with Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff both expected to appear. Although the film makers do not have the rights to the name Baywatch, so cannot refer to it, but the filmmakers have promised that the red swimsuits will be returning.
Speaking about the film, star Alexandra Paul said: "This movie is about taking the piss out of ourselves and going behind that one-dimensional image people have of actors they see on TV. We play ourselves so there are going to be assumptions the television show in question is the one we actually all were on. But no, it most definitely is not. It is not. Not. Shall I say that again?”
The B-Team is currently in pre-production.
