John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum - Five Reasons You'll Love It

This week, we get a third helping of John Wick. A third instalment of the action-packed, uncompromising and hugely acclaimed franchise.

Keanu Reeves is back to lead the way as Wick, who is now on the run, after assassinating a member of the High Table in The Continental. A cardinal sin, even for an assassin.

Not only is he on the run, Wick now has a $14 million global contract on him and is excommunicated from every Continental service. That is a state of affairs which forces him to fight his way out of New York City with the help of Sofia, a hitwoman who still believes in his trust...

Starring alongside Reeves are Halle Berry, Mark Dacascos, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, Laurence Fishburne, Jason Mantzoukas and Anjelica Huston.

Chad Stahelski is back to direct, working from a script from Derek Kolstad.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is out now in cinemas and will be released on DVD later this year, but we caught an early screening and have rounded up five reasons why you'll love it...

The action goes to another level...

The first two John Wick movies have shown off action set pieces so intricately choreographed and perfectly executed that it was practically ballet, but they push things on once again in the third instalment. It will leave you open-mouthed...

If you think Stahelski is out of interesting ways to kill someone...

You'd be dead, dead wrong, he and Kolstad's imagination for death and destruction is quite something.

It's brutal...

With over $250 million in box office receipts so far, you might expect that there would be pressure from producers to kick on and expand the franchise to a wider audience and tone things down a bit. Nope. This is bloodier, harder and even more violent than the first two movies.

The new additions are very well-chosen...

From Halle Berry's furious fellow assassin Sofia to Angelica Huston's fiery protector to Asia Kate Dillon's icy cool Adjudicator, Stahelski's new casting decisions are all superbly chosen and each adds something to the new epic.

This may not be the final chapter...

Natural assumptions are that it's three and out for a film series, but that may well not be the case. There's plenty more to come from John Wick, as long as Keanu, Kolstad and Stahelski are up for it.
