Joss Whedon to write and direct Batgirl for DC Movies
Joss Whedon, best known as the creator of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and writer and director of both Avengers movies, is in talks to write and direct Batgirl.
According to Variety, Whedon is in final talks to take on the movie for DC. No star is locked in at present.
Batgirl first appeared in DC Comics in 1967 as Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon and has always been one of Gotham's most popular characters, but this will be her debut movie.
Gordon's origins would suggest that J.K. Simmons, who makes his debut as Commissioner Gordon in Justice League later this year, will have a key role in the new movie.
There is no release date pencilled in for the movie at present.
