Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter confirm Bill & Ted 3 coming in 2020
It has been a full two decades since Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted 'Theodore' Logan first graced cinema screens with their hilarious presence in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, the 1989 cult comedy starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter as the time-travelling, guitar-wielding college kids destined to save the world with their music, but it looks as though next year will see Bill & Ted return to cinemas once again.
Rumours of a third movie to follow the 1991 sequel Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey began circling months ago, but now Reeves and Winter have confirmed Bill & Ted's impending return next year in a video posted to Youtube, which you can find below:
Bill & Ted Face the Music is set to begin shooting later this year and will reportedly feature a storyline in which are heroes are now grown men with kids to look after and all the other responsibilities that come with being an adult.
However, as fans of the first two films may remember, the boys from San Dimas were told it was their destiny to save the world by virtue of writing the greatest music ever heard, but now they are deep into middle age and yet to even score their first hit, much less pave the way for a utopian society. With neither of them getting any younger, the boys face a race against time to resurrect their band Wyld Stallyns and write a song that could change the fate of humanity.
William Sadler, who starred alongside Reeves and Winter in Bogus Journey as the Grim Reaper, is alos expected to retrun, although it has yet to be confirmed whether he will reprise his role from the previous film. Sadly, since George Carlin is no longer with us, Rufus will not be returning and the filmmakers have confirmed that the role will not be recast.
There's no confirmed release date as yet, but watch this space for more news on that and cast additions in the coming weeks.
