Keri Russell set to take key role in Star Wars: Episode IX
Keri Russell is in talks to join the Star Wars cast for the forthcoming Episode IX.
Russell, who is best known for her role in hit drama The Americans, is in talks to take a key role in the third instalment of the movie series that began with The Force Awakens.
According to Variety, director JJ Abrams is set to cast two more new actors for the new film before production begins at the end of the month.
Russell's role is unknown, with no reports on whether she will be part of the Empire or the Rebellion.
Abrams, who was in the director's chair for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will take charge of Episode IX, having replaced Colin Trevorrow, who stepped down from the project in September.
Abrams has co-written Episode IX along with Chris Terrio, whose previous screenwriting credits include Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and Argo, for which Terrio won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
