Kim Basinger signs up for key role in 50 Shades Darker
Kim Basinger has signed up for a key role in Fifty Shades Of Grey sequel Fifty Shades Darker.
According to Variety, Basinger, who is best known for her Oscar winning role in L.A. Confidential, will take the part of Elena Lincoln, the business partner and former lover of Christian Grey, in the sequel to the hugely successful erotic thriller.
Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, the sequels to Fifty Shades Of Grey, will shoot back to back this year.
The sequels are to be directed by House Of Cards director James Foley and have scripts from Niall Leonard, husband of the series's creator E. L. James.
Leonard is an experienced TV writer who has written episodes of Monarch of the Glen, Wire in the Blood and Wild at Heart among other things. He takes over writing duties from Kelly Marcel.
Fifty Shades Darker is due to hit cinemas in February 2017, with Fifty Shades Freed following in February 2018.
