Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton to play young Han Solo in new Star Wars spin-off?
Taron Egerton, star of new thriller Kingsman: The Secret Service, has been linked with a starring role in the forthcoming Star Wars spin-off.
Earlier this year it was confirmed that two Star Wars stand-alone films would be produced alongside the new trilogy of movies. Godzilla director Gareth Edwards will direct the first of the pair, with Chronicle's Josh Trank directing the second. Each movie has been individually written by Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg.
It has long been rumoured that the films would both be origin stories for two key Star Wars characters, Han Solo, the charming smuggler played by Harrison Ford in the original series, and Boba Fett, the Mandalorian warrior and bounty hunter.
According to The Sun, Egerton has now been linked with the role of young Han Solo, a role which was previously rumoured to be going to Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul. The report also suggests that film will reveal how the character obtained his famous vessel, the Millennium Falcon, and show details of all the events that caused him to fall out with Jabba the Hutt.
Egerton is currently preparing to film a starring role in the new biopic of British skier Eddie The Eagle, in which he will star alongside Hugh Jackman. You can read more about that here.
