Kong: Skull Island - Five Reasons You’ll Love It

84 years after he made his first appearance on the big screen, King Kong, the most iconic of all movie monsters, returns for a new reboot.

In Kong: Skull Island, we find ourselves in 1971 and following a team of explorers brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific, all the while unaware that they are crossing into the domain of the mythical giant gorilla known as Kong. But is he the only monster that they will find there?

Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Tian Jing, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Thomas Mann, Shea Whigham, Toby Kebbell and Eugene Cordero all star in the movie, while Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who was recently behind the camera on indie hit The Kings Of Summer, directs.

The movie hits cinemas on March 10th and you can pre-order your copy at the top-right of this page, but we caught an early screening and have rounded up five reasons you’ll love it…

Kong is incredible…

The size and scale of the giant ape is breathtaking and he’s brought to life with might and swagger.

And so are the other monsters…

Kong is by no means the only monster you’ll see here. There are enormous spiders, yaks and even ants, but it’s the skullcrawlers who will haunt your dreams...

It pulls no punches with death and gore…

This is a full-on romp and makes no apology for putting spectacle and action above anything else, but when it comes to showing the brutality of Kong and the other monsters, it doesn’t shy away. Some of the deaths and a lot of the carnage is fully wince-inducing….

The soundtrack is ace…

We’re treated to the finest sounds of the 70’s with the music moving from Black Sabbath to The Hollies and David Bowie to Credence Clearwater Revival, it’s an excellent listen and adds a lot to the movie’s rhythm and pace.

There’s plenty of scope for more adventures...

Spoilers, we won’t give you any, but we will say that there is plenty of possibilities at the end of this movie that we’ll be coming to see Kong and the new monsters again. Godzilla vs Kong is already locked in for 2020, get excited!
