Kristen Stewart and Lupita Nyong’o wanted for new Charlie's Angels reboot
Twilight star Kristen Stewart and 12 Years A Slave's Lupita Nyong’o are both wanted for the new Charlie's Angels reboot, according to reports over the weekend.
According to Variety, the two actresses are both in the mix to play key roles in the reboot, which will be directed by Pitch Perfect 2 director and The Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks.
Charlie's Angels began life as a TV show which ran throughout the 1970s and centred around three detectives, played by Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith, who were assigned to solve a series of ever-more daring cases for a mysterious benefactor named Charlie.
The show was first brought to the big screen in 2000 when Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu starred in a big-budget Hollywood adaptation for director McG. The movie was a big hit and yielded a 2003 sequel Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, which was less successful and ended the franchise.
A TV reboot of the show in 2011, which starred Friday Night Lights' Minka Kelly, 666 Park Avenue's Rachael Taylor and Entourage's Annie Ilonzeh, was quickly written off after four episodes, but producers Sony are hopeful that Banks will be able to build a new movie franchise for them.
