Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska to star in Charlie's Angels reboot
The upcoming Charlie's Angels reboot has been in the works for a while now but it seems that the film has finally found its leading ladies, with Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska set to star in the new movie directed by Hunger Games actress Elizabeth Banks.
Banks made her feature-length directorial debut in 2015 with hit musical comedy sequel Pitch Perfect 2 and was revealed to be directing a new Charlie's Angels movie in September last year, but up until now news on the project had been scarce. That all began to change earlier this week when Banks posted a video on Twitter suggesting that casting news was just around the corner.
Beginning life as a TV series starring Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith, the series was brought to the big screen for the first time in 2000 by Drew Barrymore and director Joseph McGinty Nichol – better known as McG – in a movie which starred Barrymore alongside Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. A sequel followed in 2003 and a rebooted TV series also arrived on screens in 2011, but was cancelled after just one series.
Banks' film will see the Angels return to cinemas for the first time in more than 15 years and as well as directing the new reboot Banks is also reportedly set to step in front of the camera to star as a female incarnation of Bosley, the Angels' assistant played in previous films by Bill Murray and Bernie Mac.
The new movie is currently slated to hit cinema screens next summer with a UK release date on June 9th 2019.
