Leonardo DiCaprio signs up to star in Leonardo Da Vinci biopic
Leonardo DiCaprio has signed up to star in a new biopic of Leonardo Da Vinci.
The actor, who has not completed a movie since his gruelling turn in 2016's The Revenant, has acquired the rights to Walter Isaacson's new biography of the inventor and looks set to produce and lead a new biopic.
According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures have won a bidding war to acquire the rights to Isaacson's book and will immediately begin work on the script.
No director is attached at this stage. Isaacson, a former managing editor at CNN, also provided the book on which the Steve Jobs biopic was based.
DiCaprio's next project had been expected to be thriller The Devil In The White City, a new team-up with regular collaborator Martin Scorsese, while the pair are also working on an adaptation of David Grann's bloody novel Killers Of The Flower Moon. It's unknown which of these projects will come first.
