Long Shot - Five Reasons You'll Love It

Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen come together for new comedy Long Shot, which hits cinemas this weekend.

Rogen plays as Fred Flarsky, an unemployed journalist, who decides to resurrect his career by attempting to court his childhood crush and babysitter Charlotte Field, played by Theron.

Field is now the Secretary of State and preparing to run for President, but she's also looking for a little downtime...

Dan Sterling, writer on The Interview, reunites with Rogan for this new one, while Jonathan Levine, who directed him in The Night Before and 50/50, is behind the camera.

Co-starring alongside Rogan and Theron are O'Shea Jackson Jr., Alexander Skarsgård, Randall Park, Bob Odenkirk and Andy Serkis.

The film arrives on DVD shelves on Monday (September 9th), but, back before it hit cinemas, we caught an early screening and have rounded up five reasons why you'll love it...

Rogen and Theron have great chemistry...

They seem an unlikely pairing, but it's excellent casting. The pair really bounce off each other and lead the film with charm, wit and punch.

The supporting cast are very well chosen...

From June Diane Raphael's cynical aide Maggie to Bob Odenkirk's dim-witted President Chambers to Andy Serkis's bombastic media mogul Parker Wembley, there are lots of brilliant supporting turns here.

It's very charming...

It's billed as a laugh out loud comedy, and it is, but it's more likely to bring a smile to your face with its charm and heart.

The gags are a nice mixture of high-brow and low-brow...

For every slapstick moment or sex joke, there's a clever one-liner. Sterling's script is superb and very, very funny.

And there's a great soundtrack...

Roxette, Boyz II Men, The Crystals, Lizzo and more, it's a diverse, entertaining mix and it compliments the film perfectly.

Long Shot is available in hmv stores now
