Lost's Damon Lindelof developing Watchmen series with HBO

Damon Lindelof, best known for his work on Lost and The Leftovers, is developing a series for HBO from beloved graphic novel Watchmen.

The graphic novel began life as a 1986-87 DC Comics limited series by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons and was in development for over 10 years before it was finally brought to the big screen in 2009 by Zack Snyder.

HBO have been considering an adaptation of the series since 2014 and had been in early talks with Snyder to be involved, but he has now left the project and they have turned to Lindelof.

According to Deadline, the project is in the early stages and no stars are currently attached to the series.

The story of Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America, where costumed superheroes are part of everyday life. When one of his former comrades is murdered, masked vigilante Rorschach uncovers a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes, forcing him to reconnect with his old colleagues.

You can check out the 2009 movie here in hmv's online store.
