Louis Letterier in frame to direct Fast X after shock departure of Justin Lin
In a shock development last week Fast X director Justin Lin, who has helmed several films in the Fast and Furious franchise over the years, announced that he was would be departing the 10th film in the series with immediate effect, citing “creative differences” with the studio over the direction of the film in a statement released via Twitter:
Now it appears that Louis Letterier could be the person to step into Lin’s, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
There’s no official word from Universal on Lin’s replacement so far, although Letterier certainly has the action credentials having previously directed films such as The Transporter. In the meantime, filming in the UK has shut down until a replacement is found.
As things stand, Fast X is still scheduled to be released on May 19 next year, although it remains to be seen whether the change in director causes a delay to the planned release schedule.
