Margot Robbie to lead new all-female Pirates of the Caribbean spin-off

Margot Robbie is to lead a new spin-off of Pirates of the Caribbean.

According to Deadline, Robbie will team with Christina Hodson, who penned the script for Birds Of Prey, for the spin-off.

The movie will be a stand-alone film in the Pirates franchise rather than a reboot or a sequel. It will be a female-fronted take on the franchise.

It is a separate project from the planned reboot, which Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and Ted Elliott, who co-wrote the first four Pirates films, are currently working on.

2017's Pirates Of The Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge was the fifth instalment in the franchise grossed almost $800 million at the box office, bringing the franchise's total to over $4.5 billion overall.

You can check out each of the films here in hmv's online store.
