Mark Wahlberg joins Tom Holland in long-delayed Uncharted movie

Mark Wahlberg will join Tom Holland in starring in the long-awaited movie adaptation of Uncharted.

The Uncharted game series has sold over 28 million units across the world and follows treasure-hunter Nathan "Nate" Drake as he travels around the world to uncover various historical mysteries.

Holland will play Nathan Drake, while Wahlberg will play Victor “Sully” Sullivan.

Sullivan is an American treasure hunter, fortune seeker and businessman, as well as a friend and mentor to Drake.

A movie version of the game has been in active development since 2008, with Wahlberg ironically attached to star as Drake himself at one time, while Chris Pratt was also linked with the role.

Bumblebee director Travis Knight will take charge, working from a script from Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.

Production on the movie is scheduled to begin in early 2020.
