Martin Freeman signs up for Captain America: Civil War

It’s been a busy few years for Martin Freeman. Having made his breakthrough in Ricky Gervais’ The Office Freeman graduated to some of literature’s most famous roles, namely Dr. Watson in alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in Sherlock and Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit series.

His latest role sees Freeman joining the team of another much-loved series, where he will line up alongside Chris Evans in Captain America: Civil War.

Kevin Feige, the film’s producer, was quoted as saying: “From his roles as Bilbo Baggins and Dr. Watson to Tim in The Office, Martin’s range from the dramatic to the comedic has constantly impressed us.

“We couldn’t be more honoured or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The rumoured plot for Captain America: Civil War is expected to feature Cap squaring up against Iron Man over plans to force superheroes to register themselves with the authorities but you’ll have to wait until May 6th 2016 to see it.
