Marvel wants Chiwetel Ejiofor for a key role in Doctor Strange
Marvel is targeting 12 Years A Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor for a key role in new blockbuster Doctor Strange.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ejiofor is being targeted for a big role in the new film, but there is some confusion about whether he will be an ally of Stephen Strange, or possibly the villainous Baron Mordo, who is set to be Strange's nemesis.
Benedict Cumberbatch was confirmed in the latter stages of last year as Doctor Strange after an exhaustive search that saw the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Oscar Isaac, Ewan McGregor, Jared Leto, Colin Farrell, Ryan Gosling, Ethan Hawke and Matthew McConaughey all linked with the role before Marvel finally settled on Cumberbatch.
Scott Derrickson, best known for directing The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, Sinister and this year's Deliver Us From Evil, has signed up to direct Doctor Strange. Jon Spaihts is currently working on the script. The film is currently scheduled to be released in November of 2016.
Doctor Strange is a former neurosurgeon who serves as the Sorcerer Supreme, he is the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats and possesses a number of great powers.
