Matt Damon to return for fourth Bourne film
Actor Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass look set to reunite for a fourth film in the Jason Bourne series, according to a report from Deadline.
Bourne had previously stated that he had no intention of of returning for a fourth film while Greengrass wasn’t involved, but that all now looks set to change after a report surfaced that the pair are in early stage talks with Universal pictures for a follow-up to 2007’s The Bourne Ultiimatum.
The news comes as a real surprise considering that the director has also previously commented that once the character regained his memory the story had ‘nowhere to go’, and instead a spin-off starring Jeremy Renner, The Bourne Legacy, was released in 2012.
However, according to Deadline’s report, they’ve come up with a new idea to take the Bourne story forward and although Universal have yet to comment it looks as though a new film with Greengrass and Damon would usurp any follow-up to Renner’s spinoff, with the studio rumoured to be aiming at a 2016 release date for the new film.
