"This was by far the most challenging thing I've ever prepared for..." hmv.com talks to Sam Claflin
What happens to a young man born with everything when a twist of fate takes most of it away? That's the question tackled by Me Before You, the novel written by Jojo Moyes that tells the story of a wealthy and privileged young man whose life is turned upside down when an accident leaves him paralysed from the neck down.
Now director Thea Sharrock has brought the story to the big screen and the film adaptation of Moyes' book arrives in cinemas this weekend. Sam Claflin stars as William Traynor, who is struggling to come to terms with the consequences of his accident and considering assisted suicide at a Dignitas clinic, while Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke appears as the young woman hired to look after him and tasked by his mother with trying to convince him his life is still worth living.
The movie hits DVD shelves on Monday (October 10th), but back when it was in cinemas we sat down with Sam to talk about preparing for a challenging role, working alongside Emilia and getting emotional over some of the film's heartbreaking scenes.
