Meryl Streep and Gary Oldman set to star in Steven Soderbergh's Panama Papers drama

Meryl Streep is set to star in Steven Soderbergh's new drama about the leak of the Panama Papers.

The movie, which is currently titled The Laundromat, also looks set to star Antonio Banderas and Gary Oldman.

Scott Z Burns, who worked with Soderbergh on The Informant, Contagion and Side Effects, has provided the script, which is based on Jake Bernstein's book Secrecy World: Inside The Panama Papers Investigation Of Illicit Money Networks And The Global Elite.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the story will bring to life the global scandal of the Panama Papers, leaked documents that showed how Mossack Fonseca, a Panamanian law firm, allowed the wealthy and the connected to funnel money illegally in and around the world.

Streep will next be seen in Mary Poppins Returns, starring alongside Emily Blunt, while Soderbergh has just released Unsane, the psychological horror that starred Claire Foy.
