"We're a bit like Crockett and Tubbs..." Julian Barratt and Simon Farnaby channel Miami Vice in their new film, Mindhorn
Julian Barratt is perhaps best-known as one half of the duo behind The Mighty Boosh, but for his latest project he has teamed up with Yonderland's Simon Farnaby and the pair's new film looks set to be one of the funniest British comedies you're likely to see this year.
Barratt stars as washed-up actor Richard Thorncroft, whose last decent gig was the lead role in 70s cop show Mindhorn, about a detective with a unique gift for judging whther or not someone is telling thr truth. His career has been in a rut ever since, but when a criminal behind a string of murders on the Isle of Man calls the local police and insists he will only speak with 'Detective Mindhorn', Throncroft is drafted in to reprise his role, only this time in the real world.
Alongside Barratt and Farnaby is a cast that includes Essie Davis, Steve Coogan, Andrea Riseborough, Russell Tovey, Simon Callow and Kennethh Brannagh.
With Mindhorn arriving in UK cinemas this Friday, we sat down with Julian and Simon to talk about their new film.
