Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 pushed back to 2023 and 2024

If all had gone to plan, the seventh movie in the Mission: Impossible franchise would’ve hit cinema screens as early as July 2020, and while the pandemic has caused delays to untold numbers of film and TV productions over the last couple of years, Mission: Impossible 7 has already been the subject of four release date delays – and now it seems there will be another.

Although its most recent scheduled arrival date was set for September this year, Paramount have now released a statement confirming that both this and its follow-up are set to be delayed yet again. The statement reads: “After thoughtful consideration, Paramount Pictures and Skydance have decided to postpone the release dates for Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 in response to delays due to the ongoing pandemic. The new release dates will be July 14, 2023, and June 28, 2024, respectively. We look forward to providing moviegoers with an unparalleled theatrical experience."

However, there is some good news for Tom Cruise fans with the release of the long-awaited Top Gun sequel, Top Gun: Maverick, set to arrive in UK cinemas on May 27 this year. As for his reprisal of Ethan Hunt, we’ll just have to wait a little longer.
