More key casting announcements confirmed for Baz Luhrmann's lavish Elvis biopic
Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Olivia DeJonge have both been cast in key roles in Baz Luhrmann's new biopic of Elvis Presley.
The film will see Tom Hanks will star alongside Austin Butler, Hanks will play Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis's fearsome manager, with Butler playing Presley.
Butler, who is best known for his role in fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles, beat off competition from Miles Teller, Harry Styles, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Baby Driver mainman Ansel Elgort to win the role.
Harrison Jr. , who has starred in both The High Note and Waves, will play blues legend, B.B. King, while DeJonge, who is best known for her role in Netflix series, The Society, will play Elvis' eventual wife Priscila.
The pair join the likes of Yola, Luke Bracey, Dacre Montgomery and Helen Thomson in key roles as well as Luhrmann veterans Richard Roxburgh and David Wenham.
At present, the film, which will track Presley's rise to stardom over a 20-year-period, is due out on November 5th in 2021.
