Naomi Watts to star in HBO's Game Of Thrones prequel
Naomi Watts is to lead HBO's new Game Of Thrones prequel.
According to Deadline, Watts will lead the way in the series, which will be written by Kingsman: The Secret Service's Jane Goldman.
Goldman's prequel sees her work directly with creator George R.R. Martin and is set thousands of years before the events of Game Of Thrones, with none of the actors from the current show set appear on the prequel.
The series is described as chronicling “the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”
Watts' character is unnamed as yet, but she is described as "a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret".
There's no air date for the prequel as yet, but it is expected to be a while after the final season of Game Of Thrones, which will air in the first part of 2019.
