New director found for reboot RoboCop Returns
A new director has been found to take charge of the new take on RoboCop.
Blomkamp, who had been previously developing an Alien sequel, had signed up to work with MGM on a new re-working of the story, but then left the project.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, he has now been replaced by Abe Forsythe, most recently behind the camera on Lupita Nyong’o zombie comedy Little Monsters.
The film is set to be titled RoboCop Returns and sees original writers Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner producing and executive producing, respectively.
Justin Rhodes, who has recently co-written the new Terminator reboot, has rewritten the script that Neumeier and Miner originally wrote as a sequel to Paul Verhoeven's 1987 original.
RoboCop was rebooted back in 2014 with House Of Cards' star Joel Kinnaman in the title role, but a new actor is being sought to lead the latest reboot.
