New images of Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury revealed at CinemaCon
The long-awaited Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody is edging closer to release and this week at CinemaCon 20th Century Fox offered attendees a glimpse of Rami Malek in the starring role with a new trailer and some new images. The trailer has yet to surface online, but Fox did release some new stills from the film featuring Malek as the late Queen frontman and Jamestown star Gwilym Lee in the role of guitarist Brian May. You can find the new images below:
The film's production has been besieged by setbacks over the last few years, with the lead role originally set to be played by Sacha Baron Cohen before the actor left the project citing differences in opinion with the band over the direction of the film.
Rami Malek stepped into the fray under the direction of Bryan Singer, but the director left in dramatic circumstances in December last year when it emerged that something of a row had broken out between Singer and his leading man. Fox removed the director from his post and Dexter Fletcher stepped in to complete the project, which is now firmly back on course and set for release later this year.
Bohemian Rhapsody is now set to arrive in UK cinemas on December 28th 2018.
