New picture from Alien: Covenant unveiled as filmmakers reveal production is complete

A brand new shot from Alien: Covenant has been posted as filmmakers confirm that production has now been completed. You can see the image below:

The movie will star Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace, who return from Prometheus. They are joined by a newly cast Danny McBride, Katherine Waterston, Demián Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, Alexander England and Benjamin Rigby.

The movie, which is a sequel to Prometheus, is the start of a new trilogy of Alien prequels. Speaking previously about this, Scott said: "When [Covenant] finishes there’ll be another one and then another one. They'll gradually drive into the back entrance of the 1979 film.”

He continued: "Prometheus was borne out of my frustration that in the three Aliens that followed [mine], no-one asked the question 'Who made the Alien and why?'. Very basic questions. I came up with the notion of Prometheus, which starts to indicate who might have made it and where it came from. So I’m now going to the next one, which is the next evolution directly connected with the first one. We’ll kind of pick it up there, with Michael Fassbender in pieces, and it will evolve..."

Prometheus was released in 2012 and served as a origin story to Alien, it also starred Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Guy Pearce.

A further sequel to Alien, this time directed by District 9's Neill Blomkamp, was in pre-production last year and was set to shoot in 2017, but has now been put on hold due to Scott's new plans.
