Black Panther

Black Panther by Ryan Coogler

Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther wowed everyone earlier, taking home over $1.3 billion at the box office and now it arrives on DVD. 

Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War, we follow Boseman’s T’Challa as he heads back to his homeland of Wakanda following the death of his father, the King of Wakanda.

Once home, he soon discovers that he faces a challenge for the throne from factions within his own country, and, when two new enemies conspire to destroy Wakanda, he is forced to team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of Wakanadan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

Ryan Coogler, who won many admirers for his work on Creed and Fruitvale Station, directs, with his Creed mainman Michael B. Jordan in a key role as villain Eric ‘Kilmonger’ Stevens.

Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis are in supporting roles.

Darkest Hour

Darkest Hour by Joe Wright

Gary Oldman took home the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in this lavish new biopic from director Joe Wright.

The movie begins with Churchill newly elected as Prime Minister of Great Britain and facing one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation.

We watch on as he agonises over the decision, dealing with an unprepared public, a sceptical King, and his own party plotting against him...

Wright directs, working from a script from Anthony McCarten, the adaptor of the Oscar-winning The Theory Of Everything, with Ben Mendelsohn, Kristin Scott Thomas, Lily James, Stephen Dillane and Ronald Pickup also in key roles.

The film has been directed by Saul Dibb, best known for work on Suite Francaise, it is adapted from R. C. Sheriff's play of the same name.
