Nominations announced for 2016 BAFTA TV Awards
BAFTA have released the full list of nominations for this year's television awards, due to be held at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday May 8th. BBC drama Wolf Hall leads the pack with four nominations, including a Best Actor nomination for Mark Rylance, who will compete for the award with Idriss Elba (Luther), Stephen Graham (This is England '90) and Ben Whishaw (London Spy).
Rylance's co-star Claire Foy is on the list of nominees for Best Actress, alongside Ruth Madeley (Don't Take My Baby), Sheridan Smith (The C-Word) and Suranne Jones (Doctor Foster), while the show's Anton Lesser also finds himself on the list of nominees for Best Supporting Actor along with Ian McKellan, Cyril Nri and Tom Courtenay. Michelle Gomez is nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role as Missy in Doctor Who, joining a list that also includes Chanel Cresswell, Eleanor Worthington-Cox and Lesley Manville.
Other highlights include a nomination for Toby Jones for his role in The Detectorists and a Best Single Documentary nomination for Adam Curtis' Bitter Lake, while the Best Drama category will be contested by Wolf Hall, Humans, No Offence and The Last Panthers.
