Olympus Has Fallen sequel in last-minute director change
The sequel to action thriller Olympus Has Fallen has a new director, just weeks before it is due to begin shooting.
The movie, which will see Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Melissa Leo, Angela Bassett and Morgan Freeman reprise their roles, was due to be directed by Frederik Bond, who was behind the camera on 2013 romantic comedy The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, but he departed the project a week ago.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bond has now been replaced by Babak Najafi, who directed the Snabba cash sequel Easy Money II: Hard to Kill. This would be Najafi's first English language feature film.
The sequel is set to be titled London Has Fallen with the action moving from Washington, DC and over to London, with Gerard Butler's Secret Service agent Mike Banning called into action when the Prime Minister dies suddenly and unexpectedly. It already has a planned release date of October 2nd in 2015.
