"It's a very intimate, tender, sexual story..." - hmv.com talks to Ian McEwan & Billy Howle

Author Ian McEwan is no stranger to seeing his work adapted for the big screen, with several of his novels such as Enduring Love and The Cement Garden having already been transformed into acclaimed feature films, not least Joe Wright's Oscar-winning adaptation of McEwan's 2001 novel Atonement.

This time, however, McEwan has provided the screenplay himself for a new adaptation of his 2007 novella On Chesil Beach, starring Saoirse Ronan alongside Billy Howle, Emily Watson and Anne-Marie Duff. The new film is a feature-length debut for renowned theatre director Dominic Cooke and with On Chesil Beach arriving in cinemas next week we sat down with author Ian McEwan and Ronan's co-star Bill Howle to talk about bringing this heartbreaking love story to the big screen.
