Paloma Faith and Stanley Tucci to star in ITV's new Peter Pan drama
Singer Paloma Faith and Stanley Tucci have been confirmed to star in ITV's new drama Peter & Wendy, which is based on J.M. Barrie's classic children's story Peter Pan.
Faith and Tucci will star alongside Breaking Bad actress Laura Fraser in the two-hour long drama, which will be set in Great Ormond Street Hospital and will cut between present day set scenes in the hospital and the fantastical world of Neverland. Faith will play Tinker Bell, Tucci will play Captain Hook and Fraser will play Mrs Darling.
The drama has been written by Adrian Hodges, who was most recently responsible for the BBC drama The Musketeers. Also confirmed to star are Game Of Thrones' Ben Crompton, The Killing's Bjarne Henriksen and Zac Sutcliffe and Hazel Doupe, who will play Peter Pan and Wendy Darling.
Speaking about the drama, producer Stewart MacKinnon said: "The drama will retain the classic structure and content of J.M Barrie’s original Peter Pan, while adding a new framing story designed to allow audiences a different way into the story."
He continued: "The modern framework makes funny and at times poignant connections with the original material, while allowing the film to make an affectionate nod towards the traditional theatrical device of actors doubling and even tripling in different roles. This device also establishes a connection with Great Ormond Street Hospital, the world famous children’s hospital that has become irrevocably associated with Peter Pan.”
The show is currently in production and will be filmed in Luxembourg, London and Dorset.
