Patrick Stewart to team up with Hugh Jackman in next Wolverine movie
Patrick Stewart has spoken about his next role in the X-Men universe and has revealed that he and Hugh Jackman could be set to team up in the next Wolverine movie.
Speaking to The Oregonian, the actor said when asked about his future in the franchise: "What I'm very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together."
He continued: "Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of X-Men from the four movies that I've already done."
Stewart said earlier this year that both he and Ian McKellen would play no part in the forthcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, a claim he has now retracted slightly, saying that he will not play a part in the new film, but McKellen will.
He added: "I understand that it seems to be very unlikely that I will be in the next "X-Men" movie, which is almost getting ready to start shooting in Montreal. But Magneto, Ian McKellen, is certainly going to be in it."
X-Men: Apocalypse will see Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne Evan Peters and Nicholas Hoult return for to reprise their roles. Bryan Singer will return as director, working from a script by Kinberg, with a story from Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.
Oscar Isaac has been cast as the film's key villain, Apocalypse, who was first seen in the post-credit sequence for X-Men: Days of Future Past. The film will be released on May 19th 2016 in the UK and May 27th in the US.
