Paul Bettany joins cast for Star Wars young Han Solo spin-off
Paul Bettany has joined the cast of the new Star Wars spin-off about young Han Solo.
Bettany, who has been filming Avengers: Infinity War, was revealed in the cast by director Ron Howard over the weekend.
It's unknown what role Bettany will be taking in the spin-off, with speculation that he is replacing The Wire star Michael K. Williams who was unable to return for reshoots, however, that's not been confirmed.
Howard has not long been in the director's chair on the movie. 22 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller had been working on the film, which entered production earlier this summer, but left the film last month after disagreements with Lucasfilm.
Howard, who has most recently worked on Dan Brown adaptation Inferno and hit documentary The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years, was confirmed to take over as director and is now re-working the movie.
The movie is due to be released on May 25th in 2018 and so far there have been no announcements about a delayed release.
Alden Ehrenreich, star of Hail, Caesar and Beautiful Creatures is to play young Han Solo in the much-anticipated new Star Wars spin-off, with Donald Glover, best known for his roles in Community and The Martian, taking the role of young Lando Calrissian, while Game Of Thrones' Emilia Clarke and Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge also have key roles in the spin-off.
This movie is the second Star Wars spin-off following the release of Rogue One - A Star Wars Story, which is out on DVD now.
